Azure Data Factory (ADF) is a powerful data integration service for Microsoft's Azure platform, enabling you to automate and manage the movement of data between on-premises, cloud and third-party data sources.
It provides a graphical interface to easily create, schedule and monitor data pipelines that are built using Azure technologies such as Azure Data Lake Analytics, Power BI Premium and HDInsight. With these tools, you can create a variety of workloads such as extract-transform-load (ETL), real-time streaming analytics, machine learning, and advanced analytics jobs.
Azure Data Factory integrates with Azure Storage, Azure Blob Storage and Azure SQL Database. It also integrates with other Microsoft products such as Power BI, Machine Learning Studio, HDInsight and R Server.
This service allows you to automate data movements using an orchestration engine to combine multiple activities into a single workflow. This allows you to build complex workflows with multiple steps that run in sequence or in parallel.
Processes from SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft's on-premise ETL tool, can be migrated to ADF.
