SAP ERP is SAP's classic ERP solution for medium-sized and large companies, with specific modules for Plant Maintenance Management (SAP PM), Materials Management (SAP MM), Quality Management (SAP QM), Production Planning (SAP PP), Financial Management (SAP FI), Controlling (SAP CO), Asset Management (SAP AM), Project Management (SAP PS), Sales and Distribution (SAP SD) and Human Resources (SAP HR).
SAP ERP is the current name of the widely deployed SAP/R3 solution.
SAP ERP is installed on servers with Java J2EE platform, and is supported on different operating systems in 64-bit versions, such as AIX, HP-UX, Linux, OS/400, Z/OS, SOLARIS and Windows Server.
It can also use different database engines, also in 64-bit versions, such as DB2, MAXDB, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SAP ASE and SAP HANA with its In-memory technology.
The basic version of SAP ERP is SAP ERP Foundation, which includes the Human Resources and Finance modules, and essential business process management: from purchase to payment, from order to collection, and from request to service. Other modules, extensions and functionalities are purchased separately depending on the needs of each company.
There are also pre-configured solutions oriented to specific industries and small and medium-sized companies, developed and distributed by SAP partners, which are marketed under the trade name SAP Business All-inOne.
SAP ERP can be implemented both on-premise, on company servers, and in the cloud on cloud systems managed by SAP partners, with SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud as the data management system. The cloud solution is marketed as SAP Business ByDesign.
SAP also offers hybrid implementation solutions, partly in the cloud and partly on-premise.
For small businesses, the manufacturer offers pre-configured vertical solutions for different industries and businesses, developed and marketed exclusively by SAP partners, which are grouped under the trade name SAP Business All-inOne.
