On Tuesday we had the promised post-holiday BI Beers and, as on previous occasions, in a relaxed atmosphere, left very interesting topics of conversation.
On this occasion we could not overcome the previous record, but 10 people attended, which is not bad. Again many of those who attended the last, which means that like it. In the usual were Xavier y Mara, Enric, Pau, David, Juanjo, and Jorge Fernández,who was finally able to re-animate combined event. The new additions were Antonio Valle, of Gobierno TIC and Jordi Rodriguez, which I also repeated in the next. We failed to Fabian Isabel, who had promised to come to ask about BI.
We discussed many issues, but what was most successful were the two questions that George threw the air and who does not want the thing, though I think that now brought prepared;)
The first was whether anyone present had ever worked in a data mining project. I think the question was something like covert Is outsourcing for data mining projects?And really, nobody here had done it, although they came a 'I know a.. "but even then it was the Datamining internally.
The other issue raised was whether the Data Warehousing's days are numbered with the advances in technology,
particularly with the advance of technology associations, which increasingly incorporate more tools thanks in part to the large amount of memory that can handle existing servers.
As I see two issues that arouse great interest, as we see in the last post of Aniba Goicoechea,
I opened a topic of debate for each Dataprix Forum.
Moreover, at least in the area in which I talked about was what Pau comments in his post, the difference, especially in terms of involvement, working in small or large businesses, which offset most, what happens when a small business is big .. We also talked a lot about Open Source (this issue always comes out), and the advantages it could have a creator of a new BI tool, to take a random example, licensed as Open Source software, or just give the source code customer.
There was also discussion on BI tools, price, ease of use, implementation time of projects .. and we talked a lot about the state of Microsoft, its maturity in terms of BI and the reliability of SQL Server against other databases.
Well, I think I rolled a lot, to see if now Enric (our photographer) passes the photos we did and completed the post with some color.
